WASHINGTON, DC, July 13, 2007 -- One of the financial industry's highest professional accomplishments was presented today to Brian Bourdon, vice president of the financial planning and investment company Bay Capital Advisors.
Bourdon, who leads the firm's Washington, D.C. office, earned the highly-regarded Accredited Investment Fiduciary® designation from The Center for Fiduciary Studies, the industry experts on the subject of investment fiduciary responsibility.
The designation represents Bourdon's knowledge of a Global Fiduciary Standard of Excellence.
"At Bay Capital Advisors, we pride ourselves on the fact that we are Registered Investment Advisors with direct fiduciary responsibility to our clients," says Jim Flinchum, the firm's founder and managing principal. "This is a completely different and better dynamic compared to other investment advisors who have to answer to their employer first, then the client."
Flinchum says Bourdon's AIF® designation is a commitment to a standard of investment fiduciary excellence that runs throughout Bay Capital Advisors.
"Our firm prides itself on the special relationship of trust, confidence, and legal responsibility we have with our clients," he says. "Adding this valuable knowledge to our firm is a win-win for our clients and Bay Capital Advisors."
Bourdon successfully completed a specialized program on investment fiduciary standards of care at the Center for Fiduciary Studies. The Center, in association with the University of Pittsburgh Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business, was established in 1999 to provide the investment industry with the first full-time training and research facility focused exclusively on investment fiduciary responsibility and portfolio management.
The designation also means Bourdon will adhere to continuing education requirements on a yearly basis to ensure he is familiar with the prudent process developed by the Center and keep up to date with recent industry events affecting fiduciaries.
