VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, September 19, 2006 -- Jim Flinchum, managing principal of Bay Capital Advisors in Virginia Beach, received a national writing award today in Dallas from the Investment Management Consultants Association.

Flinchum, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and Investment Management Consultant Analyst™, co-wrote the article titled "Winning Mandates from Family Offices" for the September/October 2005 issues of The Monitor.

The article explored the notion that the very wealthy not only have more investment decisions to make, but also that their decisions are more difficult to make. They need far more than “plain-vanilla investing” and need careful coordination with their estate plans.

Judges selected Flinchum's article for an award “because it made a substantial contribution to the investment consulting body of knowledge” and thanked him for “educating the investment consulting profession.”
