Jim Flinchum,
Managing Principal of Bay Capital Advisors
Jim leads the Hampton Roads regional office.
His experience began as a trust officer for both
Signet
Bank and Bank One, before serving as
a Vice President of Citigroup, a Senior Vice President
for Bank of America, and retiring as a Senior Vice
President for SunTrust. During those 35 years, he
has assisted high net worth families, both domestically
and internationally, with their investment, estate
planning, and borrowing needs.
He holds a B.S. from Old Dominion University in
finance, an M.B.A. from the College of William
and Mary in finance, and an M.S. in international
finance from the University of Dallas. In addition,
he has been designated a Certified Financial Planner ™ by
the College of Financial Planning, and a Certified
Investment Management Analyst by the Investment
Management Consultants Association, following his
studies at
The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has taught economics
for
the American Institute of Banking and the University of Texas.
Jim is a former city councilman, gubernatorial appointee to the State Depository Board, and officer in the U.S. Army Special Forces (1967-70). He is deeply involved with the local Chamber of Commerce where he served as Treasurer and Vice Chairman of Legislative Affairs, and currently serves as Chair-Elect. Last year, he was selected by The Financial Planning Association (FPA) to serve as a judge for the 2007 Financial Frontier Award -- the most prestigious award for original thinking in the field of financial services.
He is a consummate reader and a lousy golfer. |
